SUMMARY:(Course) Creatrix and Mothers: Thealogies of Birth

Reflecting on thea-logy\, as in study of Goddess\, through an embodied\, eco-spiritual feminist lens that holds birth\, those who give it\, and all being born as sacred\, we inquire into matricentric (mother-centred) understandings of birth and qualities of experience. Weaving meaning with Earth-honouring thea-perspectives\, we explore interconnecting threads of goddesses and mothers—write large and small—at the centre of birthing agency\, care\, and spirituality\, and potentials of such in our lives. SUMMARY:S/HE Forum #2
DESCRIPTION:Forum 2 (0.25 Credit) \nTitle: Inanna: Examples of Eros and Justice \nTime: 10AM-12 PM on Feb 7 and Feb 21 2026 (two sessions of 2 hours per session) \nOrganizer/Instructor: Judy Grahn\, Ph.D. in U.S.A. \nSummary: Sumerian goddess Inanna is extremely complex\, paradoxical\, centered in the powers of a woman’s body\, and immanent everywhere. Our forum will feature two of her qualities: her erotic love\, and her concerns with justice. Feb 7 Dr. Grahn will read some of Inanna’s love poetry\, and Dr. Jenett will bring in additional poetry from a civilization in the Indus Valley of north India\, that both paralleled and directly traded with Sumer. The Sangam literature addresses the lush erotic powers of women\, and the uniquely female quality of attractiveness known as ananku in the literature\, and called kuzbu in ancient Sumerian literature. Then on Feb 21\, Dr. Grenn will present on the Sumerian/Mesopotamian tradition of Lilith as a figure who resisted a patriarchal paradigm in choosing to flee the prison of “Paradise”\, and Dr. Grahn will complete the Forum with her analysis of Inanna’s justice\, and in particular her protection of the sexual autonomy of women. \nGuest Presenters: Dianne E. SUMMARY:S/HE Forum #1
DESCRIPTION:Forum 1 (0.25 Credit) \nTitle: The Great Goddess of the Winter Sky \nTime: 9AM to 11AM PST on Jan 10 and Jan 24 (two sessions of 2 hours per session) \nOrganizer/Instructor: Helen Benigni Ph.D. in USA \nSummary: The Forum Session “The Great Goddess of the Winter Sky” presents the attributes of the Goddess in her many forms. Vivien Gibbons introduces us to the Blood Mysteries of Womanhood in the Artemis\, Hekate and Demeter trinity that embodies the sacred cycles of the feminine of which Artemis plays a vital role. By tracing Artemis’ roots to the Paleolithic Era with Her bear and bee associations\, Carla Ionesco’s presentation follows Artemis’ evolution from cave to temple bridging her identity into the Classical world of ancient Greece. Drawing on archaeological and iconographic evidence\, Carla Ionescu traces Artemis’ evolution from the cave to the temple\, showing how Artemis’ identity as both wild and sovereign bridges Paleolithic ritual consciousness with the structured cults of the classical world. In an analysis of Artemis as both Creatrix and Goddess of Life\, Death and Regeneration\, Dr. Helen Benigni focuses on the constellations and lunar cycles associated with Artemis in the winter months of the night sky. Finally\, in a discussion that follows the presentations\, the archetype of The Great Goddess of the Winter Sky is explored in Celtic and Greek cultures in a comparison with Brigit in Celtic mythology. \nGuest Presenters: Vivien Gibbons\, Ph.D.\, Carla Ionescu\, Ph.D. \nRegistration is available below: \nRegistration Open: S/HE Forum Course Spring 2026 \n \nShare this:\n Share on Bluesky (Opens in new window)\n Bluesky\n \n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n \n Share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)\n LinkedIn\n \n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X\n \n Print (Opens in new window)\n Print\n \n Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window)\n Email

SUMMARY:Course: Introduction to Creatrix Studies
DESCRIPTION:Mago Academy offers Introduction to Creatrix Studies\, as a core course of the Creatrix Studies Programs (CSP). You may take it as 2 credit course toward your M.A. or Ph.D. in Creatrix Studies programs or audit it not for academic credit. \nIntroduction to Creatrix Studies (2 Credits) \nCourse no: 101 \nInstructor: Helen Hye-Sook Hwang\, Ph.D. \nTime: 9AM to 1PM PT Jan 13-March 3 (Tuesdays\, 4 hour-long 8 weekly sessions) \nDescription: Creatrix Studies is born as a modern revival of the pre-patriarchally originated Ceto-Magoism (the Whale-guided Way of Mago\, the Creatrix)\, which largely remains demonized as sea-monsters/dragons/serpents today. Chiseled by Goma better known as Ungnyeo (Bear/Head Woman) among Koreans\, the Magoist Mudang Queen Mother in the early fourth millennium BCE\, the matriversal (of maternally perceived universe) consciousness to be revived transforms feminist spirituality into its destination\, Matriversal Soteriology. We restore the bond between the natural world headed by cetaceans/whales and the human world bequeathed by our matricentric ancestors across cultures. The core course topics (Magoist Cosmology\, Ceto-ecofeminist Spirituality\, Ceto-Magoist Soteriology & Patriarchy\, Matriarchal Histories and Practices) will be discussed. Goma\, popularly known as Ungnyeo (Bear/Head Woman)\, stands for one of the original triad divine together with Mago\, the Creatrix\, and Gorae (Cetaceans)\, the terrestrial divine. Goma in the 4th millennium BCE foresaw the arrival of patriarchy and carved out the matriversal consciousness of the Cosmic Mother or the Nine Mago Creatrix as a means of salvation for humans to come in the patriarchal era. Founding the nine-state confederacy of Danguk (State of the Living Tree)\, Goma implanted the Ninefold Cosmic Music\, the creative force of the Matriverse\, in her socio-politico-religious institutions\, which we moderns inherited. It is not accidental that we have the legacies of Nine Mothers\, Nine Muses\, Nine Mountains\, Navratri\, and Novena etc. across cultures. Hwang hypothesizes that Goma is the originator of Ceto-Magoism (the Whale-guided Way of Mago\, the Creatrix)\, which remains demonized in major patriarchal myths and religions in the form of the sea-monster/dragon/serpent. Major themes to be discussed include: The cave initiation (the Goma Myth)\, parthenogenesis\, the living tree (axis mundi)\, the color black\, the bear constellations\, the Ceto-Magoist Mudang lineage\, and/or the Ninefold Cosmic Music. \nGuest Presenters: Judy Grahn Ph.D. Kaarina Kalio Ph.D.\, Kirsten Brunsgaard Clausen (Independent Scholar) \nShare this:\n Share on Bluesky (Opens in new window)\n Bluesky\n \n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n \n Share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)\n LinkedIn\n \n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X\n \n Print (Opens in new window)\n Print\n \n Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window)\n Email
