Departure from the Mago Stronghold to Live in Diaspora

Ah! Among those who left the Stronghold but regretted their missteps of the past, some came back to the outskirts of the Stronghold.

They sought returning to the origin directly. 3That was because they did not know when they could return to the origin.

To access to the milk-spring, they dug up the ground under the Stronghold.

As the foundation of the Stronghold was damaged, 6the base [water] of the spring spread into four directions. 7And it immediately changed into hard soil. They could not drink it.

Because of that, the milk eventually dried out inside the Stronghold.

People were stirred and fought to take grasses and fruits.

Chaos and contamination reached the extreme. Thus, cleanness and clarity were hard to be preserved.

Hwanggung, being the eldest of people, tied her body with the white grass and made repentance before Mago.

Taking the responsibility for the five-tastes, she pronounced the vow of returning to the origin.

After stepping out, she said to all tribes,

The calamity of the five-tastes is reaching us backwardly.

Those who left the Stronghold do not know the Principle of the Way. They grew thicker in delusion.

Cleanness and clarity are already destroyed, and the Great Stronghold is endangered.

What should we do?

Thereupon, all Heavenly Beings willed to live in diaspora. 19They wanted to preserve the Great Stronghold intact.

Hwanggung gave out the Heavenly Emblem as a token of trust.

And she instructed them how to collect arrowroots for food and commanded them to live separately in four directions.

Thereupon, Cheonggung, leading her tribe, passed through the eastside gate, and left for the Land of Cloud Seas (Unhaeju).

Baekso, leading her tribe, passed through the westside gate, and left for the Land of Moon Resting (Wolsikju).

Heukso, leading her tribe, passed through the southside gate, and left for the Land of Star Birthing (Saengseongju).

And Hwanggung, leading her tribe, passed through the northside gate, and left for the Land of Heavenly Mountains (Cheonsanju).

The Land of Heavenly Mountains was the region of severe coldness and great peril.

Hwanggung intended to choose adversity to endure the suffering caused by her vow of returning to the origin.
