The Morning City and the Sea City
1Also, the Morning City was established in the central region where the Ye and the Yang intersected.
2And the Sea City was inaugurated in the Eight Lakes.
3In every October, the Morning Rite was conducted. 4All tribes of the Four Seas offered local tributes.
5Those from the regions of rocks and mountains brought deer and sheep for offering.
6Those from the regions of seas and oceans brought fish and shellfish for offering.
7They said in praise, “We offer the sacrifice of fish and sheep for the Morning Rite. The blood of five-tastes is transformed [through fish and sheep], which halts the calamity of creation.”
8Thus it was called the Rite of Morning Sacrifice (Joseon-je).
9At that time, all tribes from the mountains and seas ate a lot of fish and meat.
10And their trade goods were mostly the kind of salted fish, shellfish, and hides.
11Conducting the ritual of sacrificial offerings meant to have humans repent and requite with tributes.
12By dipping fingers in the blood, they observed the biological nature of life.
13Pouring the blood onto the earth meant to return the grace of earth that raised them.
14 The objects were the propitiation for the calamity of five-tastes, which wished to halt the disaster.
15 It was the expression of grieving corporeality.
16In the annual rituals, offerings and goods came in abundance.
17The Sea City was held in four ports and four harbors in a grand scale.
1818After the Gut of cleansing and exorcising bodies, they examined geographies.
19Enacting the law of trade, they set the amount and the volume.
20They examined the origin of things and explained its use.
21Also they dug and shaped ponds after the Eight Lakes of Budo.
22Thanksgiving rituals were conducted in between the curvy bodies of water.
23At the gathering of the feast, the rite of redeeming all beings was conducted.
24All tribes obtained the fruits of fivefold auspiciousness in Peak Wongyo (Spiral Mountain Passage) of Mt. Bongrae (Mugwort Goosefoot), which was the fruits of pine nut trees.
25They obtained the fivefold fortune, calling it the Sea Pine Trees of Bongrae and returned with the blessing.
26From that time on, industries rose in the Four Seas, which boosted trades. 27And the world became affluent and comforted.
