Imgeom and Her Vision of the Budo Civilization

¹Hanung gave birth to Imgeom.

²At that time, all tribes of the Four Seas did not teach the Principle of the Heavenly Emblem.

³They themselves fell amidst delusion. ⁴It became the cause of suffering in the human world.

⁵Imgeom was deeply concerned about the human world. ⁶She cultivated the Way of the Heavenly Savior.

⁷She conducted the Gut of cleansing and exorcising ⁸and succeeded the Three Seals of the Heavenly Emblem.

⁹She taught how to plough, sow, raise silkworms, collect arrowroots for food, fire pottery, and bake rooftiles.

¹⁰She also proclaimed the institutions of trading, planting, harvesting, and writing genealogy. 

¹¹Imgeom ate roots and drank dews, ¹²which caused her hair grow long.

¹³She widely travelled around the Four Seas ¹⁴and visited all tribes one after another. ¹⁵In one hundred years, there was no place unvisited.

¹⁶She demonstrated [the way of] manifesting the Heavenly Emblem and cultivating trust.

¹⁷Professing the vow of Resolving Delusion and Restoring the Origin, ¹⁸she planned to implement the promise of building Budo (Emblem Capital City).

¹⁹That was because lands were distant, while trust was discontinued.

²⁰The languages and cultures of all tribes grew different over time.

²¹Thus, there was a need to instate the custom of lecturing the Principle of the Heavenly Emblem in an assembly wherein people could illuminate it in unity, collaboration, and harmony.

²²That was the beginning of what was later called the Recurring Lectures.

²³The human affair became so troublesome and busy that people would forget without being lectured.
