(Day 2 New Year/Solstice Celebration Year 2) Goddess Posters by Students of The University of Saskatchewan

New Year/Solstice Celebrations

These are the best posters submitted for the course Goddesses in Myth and History (RLST 303), taught in fall 2018 at St. Thomas More College, The University of Saskatchewan by Mary Ann Beavis. The textbook used in the course was Goddesses in Myth, History and Culture, edited by Mary Ann Beavis and Helen HyeSook Hwang. Since the textbook does not contain a chapter on Roman Goddesses, and because Roman Goddesses are often uncritically lumped together with Greek deities, this focused research project uncovered some fascinating information on an under-covered topic, engaged the students’ creativity, and taught them the new skill of poster-making. Congratulations to the students: Tanya Brittain (Venus), Natasha Kooy (Trivia), Ashlyn Weisberg (Terra Mater), Catherine Sanche (Fortuna), Emily Farago (Aurora), Shania Fourhorns (Sul Minerva), Fern Toop (Vesta), Annika Lessing (Roma), Sierra Kyliuk (Bellona), Kaitlyn Bowes (Luna), Alissa Philipenko (Bona Dea), Sam Campling (Minerva), Ira Ahlquist (Diana), and Renee Prefontaine (Juno). The images are posted here with the students’ permission.
